When you transact tens of millions in power, every basis point matters

Large commercial offices and warehouses utilize power 24/7 to meet the needs of their customer. Shifting usage from peak pricing times to off-peak times, closing and opening HVAC systems at the right time, negotiating high volume discounts from utilities and submitting energy benchmarking reports in time could net millions in savings.

Frequently asked questions

How does TrueMeter’s payment plan work?

You pay TrueMeter a predictable, fixed price every month and we pay your electricity and natural gas bills with your utility on your behalf. You can still monitor your power bills and make changes to your utility account, but you stop paying your utility.

How can TrueMeter guarantee a fixed price?

Our proprietary technology forecasts how much power you will need in the following year, identifies the cheapest possible green energy options, most appropriate rate plans and government incentives applicable to you. We accept the risk of price fluctuations on your behalf so that you can use the power you need, without worrying about large bill swings.

Does TrueMeter cover both electricity and natural gas?

Yes, your TrueMeter payment plan covers both electricity and natural gas. TrueMeter automatically switches your electricity source to a renewable energy generator. Since there is no renewable energy option to power your gas-appliances (gas stove, gas heater etc.), you will continue receiving natural gas without interruption.

Is there a fee to add trash and water service?

If the service charge is bundled with your power bills, we will reflect it in your billing at pass-through the actual costs to you. If it is not bundled, TrueMeter does not handle or adjust it. We charge no added fees to process trash or water.

If my utility requires two-factor authentication (2FA), how does TrueMeter handle it?

Our team works with you to set up access securely, while keeping your account protected. We’ll do a one-time setup with you. You’ll verify one code for us.

What is TrueMeter’s relationship with utilities?

TrueMeter is a private company, separate from utilities. TrueMeter is an approved third-party service provider to many utilities and operates as an energy agent in all US jurisdictions. TrueMeter's subscriber agreement includes a tri-party contract between TrueMeter, the TrueMeter customer, and utility which allows TrueMeter to act on the customer's behalf and pay bills with utility. TrueMeter customers continue to own their utility accounts to ensure there is no disruption in service if they decide to stop using TrueMeter, but they no longer pay utility bills and paying for utility bills becomes TrueMeter's responsibility.

What happens if I terminate my account before the 12-month contract ends?

You can cancel at any time by emailing us at [email protected] or by requesting a cancellation on your account. If TrueMeter has paid more for your utilities than you have paid to TrueMeter, the difference will be the cancellation fee. Otherwise, there will be no cancellation fee.

What happens if I open a new store?

Your new store will be added at the same locked-in rate as your existing account. If your overall usage increases, we’ll reprice according to our repricing policy.

What happens if I close a store?

We automatically handle the closure through your subscription and offboard the account for you.

Can I add a store-by-store breakdown?

Yes, TrueMeter can provide billing and reporting broken down by each store into your invoice.

If we have two multiple accounts under different business entities, will we receive separate bills?

TrueMeter can either send one single invoice each month that covers all your locations with a location breakdown included, or send multiple invoices for each entity. Payment plans are customizable according to your accounting requirements.

Will my bill fluctuate month to month?

Utility bills often vary seasonally. Lower months typically reflect reduced gas usage, while higher months often correspond to increased electric usage. Weather patterns and store operations can also affect monthly changes.

If our store is closed for a period of time (such as during a summer break) and our utility usage is significantly lower than normal, does TrueMeter issue a refund?

TrueMeter applies discounts or debits proportionally whenever your usage changes by more than 1%. This ensures your billing reflects actual usage, even during extended closures or reduced operations.
